Questions about cost reimbursement
Which costs can be reimbursed?
Buying new production equipment, installation and supervised installation, 3D equipment, staff training, lean manufacturing and energy audits — 40%. Product certification and testing, labelling in light industry and rail delivery within Kazakhstan — 50%.
Who qualifies for cost reimbursement?
Small and medium-sized manufacturers that have operated for at least a year and make products on the priority goods list. You need an extract from the register of Kazakhstan producers and no tax debts. Companies older than 7 years need tax payments to have grown three years in a row.
Can I apply before buying the equipment?
No: first the expense, then the reimbursement. But it pays to check the company and work out the amount before buying — that way you choose equipment that will qualify and prepare the documents in advance.
No product certificate — is that a problem?
No. You can get a certificate or declaration before applying, and certification costs are also reimbursed — 50%.
How long until the money arrives?
Equipment applications are reviewed in about 14 business days, certification in about 8. After the agreement is signed, the money arrives within 2 business days. If the company is not yet on the producers’ register, allow another 3–4 weeks to get listed.
Will anything have to be paid back?
No, provided you meet the commitment: grow revenue by at least twice the reimbursed amount within 2 years. If the target is missed, part of the money has to be returned proportionally.
